A Quality Foods grocery store and Cascadia liquor store are the latest retail developments planned for The Commons shopping district in Colwood’s Royal Bay neighborhood.

Construction of the adjacent retail stores will begin this summer, with an opening scheduled for 2023. The Cascadia location will be the second in Colwood after the Hatley Park Center liquor store opened in 2007.

“We are very excited to be opening in a vibrant and exciting location within one of Greater Victoria’s fastest growing communities,” said Jeremy Pott, Regional Manager of Cascadia Liquor.

Colwood council approved construction of the Commons and Quarry wards of Royal Bay last year. The townships will represent the eastern 41.5 acres of the total 108-acre development and include 1,300 mixed-use development units in an 80,000 square foot retail village.

“Cascadia is a perfect fit for the new commercial village taking shape in Royal Bay,” added Matt Davis, vice president of development for the PCRE Group, which builds The Commons and Quarry commercial and residential districts. “Convenient access to grocery stores, a liquor store and daily services are important to those who live in and around Royal Bay, and we are delighted to welcome another local business to the heart of the neighborhood. “
