A multi-year commitment from Quality Foods will help SOS strengthen the Parksville Qualicum Beach community.

Quality Foods has joined the SOS Biz for Good initiative, committing $ 10,000 per year in grocery gift cards for the next three years. SOS Biz for Good is an important part of the Million Dollar SOS Project’s Reconstruction Campaign, focused on strengthening a safety net for the residents of District 69.

“Project Rebuild is exactly what Quality Foods invests in, we all want to take care of our community,” said Quality Foods Executive Assistant Dianne Rivard. “So it was a win-win for us, it was exactly in our wheelhouse.”

SOS Project Rebuild aims to reduce poverty, help children thrive and support the elderly. SOS Executive Director Susanna Newton said this donation will help vulnerable residents of all ages.

“This is a wonderful investment from Quality Foods, we are delighted to have their support,” said Newton. “Gift cards will allow families and those in need to choose foods that are meaningful to them this holiday season, and it will help meet needs throughout the winter. “

SOS also provides food for children and youth in after-school programs and Alice Tulia, responsible for SOS programs for children, youth and families, said it was important to have enough food available.

“We have reserved food for young people because they are afraid they will not have enough. Young people asked us if they could bring food for their siblings so that they could eat. So we always make sure there is more than enough, ”she said.

The SOS Child, Youth and Family programs are free, which Rivard greatly appreciates.

“Children are our future, and it’s great to have programs that allow our children to participate despite financial restrictions,” she said.
