Quality Foods researches public opinion.
Vancouver Island-based grocer (headquartered in Coombs) seeks to advance an application to permanently add an entertainment participation patent approval to a primary liquor license for food which was originally requested on September 25 for a store under construction at 371 Alberni Highway. The new location would include what they call “the floor” at Quality Foods.
Before Parksville City Council can provide a recommendation, it must first undertake a public consultation.
Com. Mark Chandler is familiar with the existing salon in South Nanaimo and “likes the idea that it can happen here.”
“It’s a very well managed and very classy addition to what they do,” he said.
Staff will be asked to announce an opportunity to receive written public comments from the community near the facility regarding the request for approval.
On the floor of Quality Foods in Nanaimo, a new concept of functionality was unveiled when the store opened on September 27, 2018. It measures 10,000 square feet on the second floor and includes a cafeteria, a gift shop, two conference rooms and a licensed pub.
