Within the Capital Management division, the Head of Structured Finance and Debt Capital Markets will manage the development and maintenance of relationships with key investors and manage the financing process on behalf of the company’s own multi-billion dollar balance sheet. ‘Amherst and its third-party joint ventures and advised funds. Key financing needs across the platform include: warehouse financing, senior and mezzanine term financing, public securitizations, unsecured corporate lines of credit and vendor financing.

The team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to lead our debt capital markets business, directing all aspects of the company’s debt financing activities, including maintaining and growing key investor relations as well as structuring, negotiating, executing and syndicating debt financing in both the private and public markets for our two businesses.

Responsibilities:
• Drive funding strategy on the Amherst platform to maximize returns from various real estate investment products
• Assess risk and negotiate transactions, including pricing, structuring and management of private finance vehicles, on balance sheet funding sources and solutions (eg CLO, warehouse and lines of credit).
• Arrange term financing for joint ventures
• Issue and manage securitizations, loan syndication, monetize the “last look” on CRE bridge loans
• Build strong relationships with investors, banks and counterparties to facilitate debt capital raisings
• Model investments to optimize returns and flexibility to determine appropriate financing terms and covenants
• Oversee all aspects of structured finance transactions, including valuation, accounting, third-party engagements, and other transaction-related issues
• Manage the daily workflow of the team
• Ensure project management of initiatives within the team and internal communication regarding the status of ongoing fundraising
• Coordinate work product with legal, tax, accounting and regulatory parties
• Finalize client presentations and interface with investment partners and potential lenders
• Lead interactions with rating agencies, ensure compliance and reporting of debt covenants
• Partner with Investor Services and FP&A to facilitate reporting processes, proper controls and cash forecasting
• Collaborate with senior leaders to generate new ideas and other initiatives
Qualifications:
• College diploma required; MBA and/or CFA nice to have
• Interested candidates must demonstrate their ability to:
• Apply an in-depth understanding of deal structuring and real estate financing
• Collaborate with transaction teams and execute complex financial modeling (strong Excel skills)
• Shift gears with emerging data points and manage risk and uncertainty
